Redhawks food drive

4/25/2020

I hope everyone is staying safe and dealing as best as possible with the covid-19 virus and shutdown. These are certainly extraordinary times and the Redhawks wish everyone the best and greatly miss seeing each of you.

That being said, as outstanding members of our community setting an example for those around us, we have recognized a need for contribution and help.

After exploring various potential options, the High School Player Leadership Committee has decided to host a virtual food drive. Below is the link to that food drive.

Let’s all donate as much as we can and show our communities that the Redhawks are here to help!

We are ONE CLUB, ALL IN.

Many in our community are struggling even more than usual with food insecurity during this difficult time. Let’s do our part, and in a small way honor our graduating seniors and help our community members in need!
As high school players, we are very disappointed to have our season cut short and to have the National Championships cancelled. We are currently ranked 5th in the Nation and had real hopes on winning a National Championship this year.

We are still optimistic that we will be able to play the Charlotte Tigers (currently ranked first in the Nation) and hopefully several other of the top teams in the Nation if the shutdown lifts before college starts. We understand the coaches are working with other Clubs on those plans.

But as much as we love and miss rugby, the High School players also understand that there are much greater needs at this difficult time. We have embraced the values that rugby and the Redhawks hold dear: Respect, Discipline, Teamwork, Sportsmanship and Passion. And have decided to employ those values to help our communities in this time of need. Please join us in helping!

Thank You!!

U10 Match report 3.1.2020

4/25/2020

Summary Video of day
Hi...3/1 U10 Friendly with Raleigh at Poole Road
For their first hint of competition in 2020, thirteen (13) Redhawks U10 players faced off against a squad twice its size on this fine Sunday afternoon at Raleigh's Poole Road facility. From the first kickoff, it was apparent the Redhawks were playing a level of rugby they always had the potential to play, scoring within the first 2 minutes. JG Dickens scored first following a 2 man attempt by Will Travis and Logan Harmer to bind on and break the defense near their goal line. Their team play not only distinguished them from their opponents, but also, from their younger selves. The tries continued to come with solid individual play and two...three-man pass plays off the ruck to the outside channels. Mason Engelbrecht quickly got into the game with a pick and go off the scrum. Will Travis, not to be left out, joined the party with a similar play when the defense wasn't paying him the attention he deserved. Jackson Justice's long scoring run down the left side was only matched by his cross field try from his own 22 five minutes later. Wilson Cain also had two tries. Logan Harmer's gallop from midfield was a little like a giraffe, but a burly giraffe. JG and Mason finished the 11 try starter with a deuce each. This, the Redhawks did in 21 minutes.
Supporting cast members were everywhere to be found. Inside and Outside centers Will Murray and Ford Hayes gave notice. Ben Ngo, played his first rugby as scrum half, Ben Mesecar as Fly with the wings being covered by the indomitable James Sprouse, Ian Phillips and Dimitry Ferro. Combined, they formed a defensive line that was solid, but not impenetrable.
Raleigh had size, potential, and one back who outran the Redhawks 4 times for 4 tries.
Lots to celebrate and lots to work on. Thank you Coaches, Parents and Players.
Final score - Redhawks 55 Rattlesnakes 20
